Day 20: Today's focus is patience.
I am convinced my kids can read!! Yeah, yeah they are 4 and 1 years old. They both knew that today I was suppose to the day where I show how patient I can be! Well they did let me sleep in today! We all got up at about 9 am. While I was brushing my teeth G man poured his own cereal and milk. (He didn't do too bad, just a small mess.) After school we started daily chores... or as G man refers to them as daily whining hour!!! He tried his best to explain to me that he wasn't able to clean because he forgot how!!!! So I did what any responsible parent would do and I hid in the bathroom for about 10 minutes. I sat there thinking what words should I use with this silly boy who is whining and complaining about having to pick up the toys he got out. Well my "patient" self came out and I told him that I needed to make lunch but I can't do that until the rooms are cleaned so he has a choice he can clean the kitchen or his bedroom. He chose his room.
After lunch I put Little miss down for a nap and began folding the laundry. When she woke up I was on my 3rd load and of course, hadn't put any of the folded laundry away. So, you know where this is going, she ran as fast as her unsteady body would move her and crashed into the folded clothes!! Then G man dove in and pretended to swim!!! All I could do was join!!!! After we "swam" in the clothes I folded them again while they played in the bedroom together. As I was redoing all that I had already done I listened to those sweet giggles and silly noises coming from the room and all I could do was smile!! I know that it is important to be patient with my children, even though some days are very hard. I am so blessed to have them and a husband who loves them as much as I do.
On those days when you need to lock yourself in the bathroom for some time may I suggest prayer and possibly even looking at some verses.
James 1:19-20, James 5:7-8, Luke 21:19, Romans 5:3, James 1:3, and Colossians 1:11
